MUST BE a subcompact, 4-cylinder model. (No Firebird, Camaro, Fairmont, etc). Station wagons and pickups allowed. No convertibles or 4-wheel drives.
NO REAR ENGINE or MID-ENGINE MODELS!
All cars must be stock, street legal, no modification of any kind. OFFICIALS DISCREATION IS FINAL.
Minimum weight 2350 lbs. (Aluminum or Fiberglass Bodies OK. Must weight 2400 lbs.)
Body must be sheet metal and fully stock appearing. Fiberglass hoods OK. But must remain flat and stock appearing—no holes in the hood! No alterations of any kind. Roof, windshield post, and cowl must remain stock. Pickups must enclose bed. Hatchback cars OK to remove rear window frame. If removed, replace deck portion with sheet metal to retain stock appearance. May not lower or tilt roofline. Stock appearing aftermarket noses are allowed.
Doors must be welded or bolted shut.
Except windshield, remove all glass, moldings and lens. DON'T BREAK OUT—REMOVE IT. All cars MUST have full windshield. No rear windows!
Safety constructed 4-post roll cage with minimum of three bars on driver's side door area and one bar on passenger side.
Full floorboard must remain intact. Must have firewall between driver and engine and between driver and fuel tank. Except firewalls, no interior sheet metal.
Fenders may be trimmed for tire clearance only.
No holes in hood for air cleaner.
Hood and trunk must have hood type pins. NO BOLTING DOWN!
6" SPOILERS OK. NO FRONT AIR DAMS OF ANY KIND! Even if stock.
Stock-type A-arms, struts, and ball joints ONLY!
No aftermarket brake pedal assemblies.
Engine
Engine MUST be 4-cylinder, carburetor fed, and stock for that year, make and model. Engine MUST remain in stock location.
Single carburetors ONLY—not to exceed 2 barrels. No reworking, grinding, or altering of carburetor in any way!
Carburetor may be impounded and/or confiscated by the officials for a period of seven days for inspection purposes.
NO ALUMINUM OR AFTERMARKET CYLINDER HEADS. NO AFTERMARKET INTAKE MANIFODS. Headers will be allowed.
Fuel injection may be run in front wheel drive cars only.
Exhaust must be single and completely sealed. Must go past doors. Exhaust must be visible. No flex pipes.
Ignition system must remain stock. No aftermarket ignitions. Aftermarket cap and wires allowed.
Racing or modified clutches - add 50 pounds.
A 2 inch hole must be cut in bell housing to check for stock clutches. Clutches MUST be visible. If an inspection hole is not done, car will not participate in the races for the day until inspection hole is done.
Fuel System
Fuel cell strongly recommended, fuel tank must be safely secure with 4 steel straps. (must pass inspector's discretion or will not race.) If moving fuel cell/tank into hatchback trunk or pickup bed, you MUST build a firewall to fully contain unit. OFFICIALS DISCRETION IS FINAL. Pickups may reinforce bed to protect fuel cell. NO PLASTIC TANKS OF ANY KIND OR IN ANY LOCATION. If fuel cell is used, it MUST be completely enclosed in steel can.
B. Steel lines or braded hose must be used as fuel line from fuel source to fuel pump. No fuel line in cockpit area.
Tires/Wheels
Hoosier 790.
Maximum 6” wide steel wheels. Safety wheels mandatory on all sides. Oversize lug nuts, (1” or larger) MANDATORY on all wheels
Miscellaneous
Weight maximum 58% left – maximum 58% rear.
Front or rear wheel drive with 3,4, or 5 speed or automatic transmissions. No quick change type or trick automatic transmissions or rear ends. No 4-wheel or all wheel drives.
Must have 4-wheel operating brakes, must be factory stock brake system.
Car and driver must meet all safety rules or will not race. Any deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials and their decision is final.
No coil over type adjusters.
May have screw jacks or adjusters
