LATE MODEL RULES 2009

Weight

Overall:  (Car, driver, & helmet before feature race)
2700 lbs. w/steel heads
2750 lbs. w/aluminum heads

All added weights to car should be painted white and have car number on it.  No weight below the frame.  All added weights shall securely fastened with minimum .5 in. grade threaded rod.  Adding weight for a rules violation will be allowed for one race only.  It must be corrected by the following week.  This excludes all special shows, you must be legal to show up and race the big shows!!

NO TRACTION CONTROL DEVICES OF ANY KIND ARE PERMITTED!!

HEAD AND NECK RESTRAINT SYSTEM HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Body

Maximum body width at rear: 72 inches
  • Body should be neat, late model appearing, steel, aluminum or fiberglass.
  • Wheel base is 102 in. minimum.
  • Minimum roof height: 44" (measured back 15" from top of window)
  • Minimum driver entry: 22" horizontal – 12" vertical.
  • Maximum height rear deck including 8" spoiler: 42"
  • Vertical support at spoiler: no more than 3, round spolier braces - no verticals.
  • Spoiler: 8" heightx72" width, 1" maximum lip, clear material only and cannot extend past rear deck lid. (we do not care if the lip faces to the back or the front).
  • Maximum rear bumper height: 12" from ground to bottom of bumper.
  • Maximum front overhang: 45" C/L hub to leading edge nose 15" off ground, 8" back set max.
  • Maximum rear overhang; 46" C/L hub to rear overhang. Max. rear quarter panel ground clearance behind rear axle is 8".
  • Full stock appearing front and rear windows securely fastened. Two supports on front windshield. Top of windshield to rear of deck lid not to exceed 102".
  • NO wedge noses.
  • Rear filler panel 12" straight down from deck, 1" horiz. Lip for strength at bottom.
  • Maximum body width over center of front wheels 82", max. body width at center of rear axle is 76".
  • Roof minimum dimensions: 45" wide x 38" long: should be stock appearing.
  • Maximum rear deck length: 28" measured from base of spoiler to edge of window. No V shaped rear windows to get this measurement!
  • No tires out past front fenders.
  • No body ledges over 4".
  • Track width shall be measured outside of front tire to outside of front tire at bottom with toe boards. 82" max. (front or back)
  • Max. engine setback 4" from center of farthest forward cylinder to center of upper ball joint.
  • Alliance body rules.

Chassis/Roll Cage

  • Stock or tube type sub frames allowed.
  • Minimum 2x3 main frame rails. 2x2 OK in front and rear; minimum .090 wall.
  • Coil over Shocks/springs OK.
  • No canister adjustable shocks.
  • No hydraulic adjusters of any kind in cockpit.
  • Maximum 4 shocks and 4 coils.
  • Four post cage mandatory w/min. of three left side and three right side door bars. Tubing to be min. .090x1.5". Driver's door to have steel plate welded or bolted to cage min. size 24 in. x 24 in. x 1/8 in. Driver leg and foot protection required.
  • Min. 2 universal joints in steering shaft.
  • 3 ½ in. ride height minimum..

Fuel/Fuel Cell

  • Maximum capacity: 22 gal.
  • No nitrous or alcohol.
  • No electrical fuel pumps.
  • Fuel cell should be mounted between frame rails.
  • Fuel cell and filter should be enclosed in red metal container and confined in the trunk area.
  • Fuel cell should be no lower than center section of rear end and minimum of 8" off ground.
  • No fuel lines in cockpit area.
  • Steel or braided lines from fuel source to fuel pump.
  • Rubber OK at connections.
  • Fuel cell should be securely fastened and strapped with two 2"x1/8" straps in both directions fully surrounding cell.
  • Rear fuel cell guard protection mandatory.

Engines

  • V8 engines only.
  • Cast iron steel block only – NO ALUMINUM BLOCKS!
  • No predator type allowed – one four barrel Holley or OEM carb.
  • Aluminum heads ok (2750 lbs.)
  • Air cleaners are mandatory.
  • No holes through hood.
  • Dry sump OK.
  • All engines are to have functional starter.
  • Scatter shield or steel bell housing with stock clutch.
  • Header OK. Must exit behind and away from driver area and out right side of car.
  • Max. engine setback 4" from center of farthest forward cylinder to center of upper ball joint.
  • $200 claimer on MSD box. If box is claimed, must exchange. If the track buys the box, MSD box will be returned within 7 days if legal and driver must return the money to the track.
  • 10 in. crank height @ 3 ½ in frame rails and NOT center cross member.
  • No Willys or any vacuum controlled secondary carbs.

Mufflers

  • Must be no more than 100 DB at 100' mandatory.

Tires/Wheels

  • To be announced.
  • Wheels to be maximum 10" wide and 15" diameter steel wheels.
  • 1" lug nuts mandatory.

Miscellaneous

  • No mirrors or radios.
  • Radiator over flow can mandatory with overflow hose to lower right corner of windshield-minimum of 2" in length onto windshield.
  • No electronic traction control devices allowed. In car adjusters for brake bias, only OK.
  • Fire extinguisher is mandatory; an on board fire system is highly mandatory.

Drive Line

  • No automatic transmissions. Reverse gear must work.
  • Floater wide five and quick change rear end OK.
  • 4 wheel brakes mandatory.
  • Iron or titanium rotors OK.
  • Drive shaft must be painted white and have safety hoop.
  • No cambered rear ends and it will be inspected.
  • 1/8" steel floorboard to rear of driver's seat.
  • Front and rear fire walls required; minimum 22 gauge steel.
  • Driver's compartment should be enclosed.

ANY MAJOR INFRACTION OF RULES WILL BE ASSESSED AS A FORFEITURE OF POINTS AND MONEY'S EARNED FOR THE NIGHT.
